Serving and Protecting Our Community
Since its establishment in 1985, the Huntsville Police Department has been dedicated to safeguarding our citizens and fostering a secure environment for everyone. Our team of 11 full-time uniformed officers and 2 dedicated office staff members are committed to serving you with integrity and professionalism.
Our Commitment to Safety
We work tirelessly to ensure Huntsville remains a safe and thriving place to live. Our officers are on duty to:
- Monitor traffic and promote road safety.
- Enforce federal, state, and local laws to uphold justice.
- Investigate crimes and bring offenders to justice.
- Respond to emergencies promptly and effectively.
- Educate the public on safety and crime prevention.
Police Chief, Josh Herring, leads our department with a focus on community-oriented policing and proactive safety measures.
Our Home in the Historic Hargis Building
In 2016, the Huntsville Police Department proudly relocated to the beautifully remodeled historic Hargis building at 200 E. Main St, just off the vibrant downtown square. The remodel was made possible by former Chief, Todd Thomas. This move has allowed us to better serve the community from a centrally located and purpose-built facility. We’re also excited about our future plans to include a small museum in the front of the building, which will showcase local law enforcement memorabilia and offer a glimpse into our city’s history.
We’re proud to be an integral part of the Huntsville community. How else can we help you learn more about our department or public safety in Huntsville? Please free to reach out to us at 479-738-2610 with ideas and suggestions.
